''Army is trying to get a new drone killer for the border, the emphasis is on indigenous technology''
The drone kill system will be capable of shooting down any unmanned aircraft flying at a height of 4500 meters. It is being made with indigenous technology.
Drones are posing a new challenge for the Indian Army and security agencies. Especially in the border areas during the past few times, there have been cases of not only spying on drones, delivery of drugs and ammunition. To tackle this threat, the Indian Army is working on a new drone kill system project.
The proposed drone kill system built with indigenous technology will be able to shoot down any unmanned aircraft flying at a range of 4 km and at a height of 4500 meters.
According to Army Headquarters, drone systems have emerged as a new and major air threat during the past few years. This danger can be small in size and very fatal. In such a situation, there is a need to have such an effective strike mechanism that can effectively eliminate their threat. The development of this system will work in conjunction with the Army's Air Defense Wing Industry Zone.
According to the document Army Make Project 2020 released by the Indian Army, the feasibility study for the drone kill system is in the final stages. According to this, the Army needs such a system that can send information about any drone within a radius of 6 km to the ground control system. Not only this, you have the ability to shoot down the drone coming in the range of 4 km.
According to official information, the army wants a drone killer capable of hitting at a speed of 200 km per hour and can dive at a speed of 350 km per hour. At present, the Army plans to acquire 50-60 drone kill systems that can be easily deployed even in border areas 4500 meters above sea level. According to the plan, the Army wants to develop this system with the help of its design bureau and indigenous defense producers.
It is important that in the past days, there has been a lot of increase in drone activities from Pakistan in the border areas of Punjab and Jammu. In June 2020, a Pakistani drone, who came to spy on ammunition delivery and spying, was shot dead near the border outpost in Jammu's Kathua area.
Not only this, in a letter written to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh a few weeks ago, Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatreya had expressed concern about drone activities in the border areas on behalf of China to ensure measures for their prevention.
